Sub titles are available in many formats, This guide includes the most
popular used programs used to add, edit or convert them.
Sub Title Programs
One of the easiest methods is to use the ffdshow
DirectShow filter which will decompress DivX and Xvid movies etc. and load the
sub title file. When loaded it is then just a simple matter of using an encoder
to save out the movie with permanent subtitles.
Download ffdshow from
here
After you have installed it, run the configuration
program and switch on Subtitles and which codec's you wish to process with
ffdshow.

Use one of the converter programs above and have your .srt or .sub renamed to
match your movie name i.e. myhomemovie.avi myhomemovie.srt and have them in the same folder.
To test all is working, double click the AVI to play in WMP, if all is working
you should now see the sub titles. If this fails, they are not the correct format.
Now when you do any encoding, the sub titles will be added permanently to your
movie, if your making a VCD use TMPGEnc and select preview to make sure they are
there.

VCD/SVCD/DVD load the correct template and click start, for AVI just select File
