Replication

Injection moulding is used to stamp out thousands of copies of a disc in polycarbonate. Polycarbonate's transparency, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and freedom from impurities makes it an ideal base for both CD-ROM and CD-R discs. Pellets of polycarbonate are heated to 350 degrees centigrade to achieve smooth flow properties, and are then injected into mold cavities.
